When Kato and I visited Lisbon a few years ago we knew we’d be returning. It was love at first sight . A gorgeous city – charming and interesting – as colourful as Havana, as hilly as San Fran and with a little of North Africa tossed in for spice. Lisbon offers breathtaking vistas at every turn – from the seven hills that comprise the elegant city, set against the wide, sparkling Tagus river. Often called the ‘light fantastic’ because of the light that illuminates the turrets and castles, and the yellow blaze of vintage trams. Besides good looks Lisbon has a personality that seduces you and keeps you wanting more. While there is no shortage of enchanting palaces and cutting edge stores the great treasure of Lisbon is in the everyday – postcard-like quiet back streets and plazas that invite long lingering – with Vinho Verde and pasties (pastries) in hand.
We’ll stay at Hotel Liberdade – a historic 18th century (updated!) in the heart of Lisbon. Fantastic location and a real gem. But we’ll also make trips out of town – up the coast to the to the resort of Cascais, and on to the magical gardens of Sintra – Lord Byron’s “Glorious Eden” and the summer refuge former royalty. Down the coast to Portugal’s most famous park for lunch at a seaside café, followed by a tasting in the cellars of Jose Maria de Fonseca. There will be a full day’s outing to the historic Alentejo wine region – touring of the ancient town of Evora, tastings, and lunch at a manor house. Back in town we’ll take in some markets, local cheese, museums, galleries, the Port Institute and of course, a Fado concert. Did I mention a cooking class? We are fortunate to have Kato’s Lisbon contacts helping us put together a week to remember. This trip is going to be amazing – guaranteed.

PAYMENT & HOW TO BOOK
1. To book your spot, email us at billysbestbottles@gmail.com with LISBON in the subject line! We need your names, address, email and phone number.
2. Then mail a cheque for $500 (each) payable to Billy’s Best Bottles to 1646 County Road 10, Cherry Valley, ON K0K 1P0, to secure your booking – first come, first served. This will not be deposited until the tour is a guaranteed GO (minimum numbers – we will keep you notified). Upon receiving your deposit we will email you a receipt and invoice for the remaining amount.
3. 50% of the full tour cost (less your $500 deposit) is due July 1, 2012
4. The remaining is due August 15, 2012
Prices are in Canadian dollars. HST not included.
CANCELLATION POLICY
Up to July 15th, full refund of your deposits less 25%.
After August 15 – 50% refund of entire trip cost.
If your spot can be filled (we will try our very best), then full refund less 15%.
Billy’s Best Bottles is not responsible for any loss, theft, accident or injury incurred on this trip and has the right to cancel for any reason. Should we cancel, you will get all monies refunded.
