A Billion Seller!

mateusWhat wine has sold over a billion bottles?

Mateus, of course!

What’s Mateus, you young-uns ask? A light, fresh, slightly fizzy Rosé wine from Portugal. It was the Fuzion of the 60s. A first date wine, a wedding wine and a drink for times in between.

On a blazing hot Easter Sunday afternoon I decided to revisit Mateus – I was with some 60s ‘kids’ and Rosé season was soon arriving. Well, let me be the first to lead the charge back to Mateus – it’s pleasant, refreshing, lighthearted and drier than before. Perfect for afternoon drinking. Better still, have a few glasses with lunch. (Only 11% alcohol.)

Gazela at Last

gazelaThe cool Ontario Summer hasn’t prompted me to reach for the world’s great thirst-quenching white wine, Vinho Verde. But after a sweaty day of working on our new bocce court and I felt the need. And Gazela worked every bit as good as in previous summers. Love the slight spritz, the mineral coolness – and of course, the low alcohol. Keep a Gazela chilled in your fridge. And consider building a bocce court!
